In January 2008, the marine division of Alterra Specialty began writing Ocean Marine business under the direction of Dennis Marvin. While our primary emphasis will be on Ocean Cargo we have capacity and the ability to write Hull, P&I and Marine Liabilities.

Since the formation of Alterra Specialty Marine in 2007, one of our guiding principles is to bring back the personal service our industry is lacking. We have designed our business model around the personal service our clients deserve.

We have assembled an impressive leadership team and are positioned well to underwrite and service business from offices throughout the country. We enjoy over 150 years of underwriting and claims experience.

At Alterra Specialty, we have extensive expertise in ocean cargo insurance, and take pride in being innovative and creative in our underwriting approach. For clients who have an international transit exposure, we can create a comprehensive insurance program on a worldwide basis. Our forms are the latest versions of the American Institute wordings and also include extended coverages tailored for our client unique needs.

• We are supported by a state-of-the-art underwriting and claims platform and intend to offer an online claims system so customers can view their claim status from anywhere in the world. As such, we will be one of the few Ocean Marine Markets offering this service.
• Online certificates of insurance will also be provided for customers and banks requiring such documentation. Additionally they are OFAC compliant with software that scans a variety of data fields for violations of US laws.
• Global services are available to handle claims, salvage, subrogation and loss control. We have partnered with VeriClaim Inc.,WK Webster Group and SalvageSale Inc., as global claim surveyors and settling agents and have arranged several unique claims and salvage services to compliment our business.
